Filming Meditation at the Ancient City
We joined iMonastery at the Ancient City outside Bangkok to capture teachings and meditation practice — so the Dhamma could travel far beyond a single quiet afternoon.
Sharing the Dhamma with a wider world
Spirit Bright supports wisdom and spiritual education — the kind that can open hearts and change how people meet their lives. In late April, we spent a day with the monks of iMonastery at the Ancient City (Muang Boran) just outside Bangkok, filming teachings and meditation among some of Thailand’s most beautiful temple architecture — so these practices could reach far beyond the room.
The Ancient City is the world’s largest open-air museum — a sweeping park laid out in the shape of Thailand, with more than a hundred faithful replicas of the country’s temples, palaces, and shrines. Its gilded halls and quiet pavilions gave us a rare and fitting backdrop: a place built to honour Thai heritage, now helping carry timeless teachings forward.
Across the day, a teaching monk of iMonastery led meditation and Dhamma reflections inside the ornate temple halls, while a professional camera crew quietly captured each session — the stillness of practice, the detail of the surroundings, and moments of sitting together in silence beneath the golden Buddhas.
The purpose was simple and long-term: to create a proper library of photo and video material that iMonastery can share through its programmes and online channels — and that Spirit Bright can use for future educational content. One thoughtfully documented day becomes a resource that keeps giving.
What we did
- Joined the monks of iMonastery for a day of filming at the Ancient City (Muang Boran)
- Captured meditation practice and Dhamma teachings inside the temple halls
- Sat together in guided meditation before the shrines
- Hired a professional camera crew to film across the setting
- Built a library of photo and video for iMonastery to share teachings widely

iMonastery is an international forest monastery in the mountains of Chiang Mai, northern Thailand — a sanctuary for deep meditation, monastic training, and the cultivation of wisdom. It trains monks and lay practitioners from around the world and shares meditation widely, so that inner peace can become a foundation for peace in the world.
